Sorry about the delay for Raw, didn't want to get spoiled
RAW 06-09-2004 part # 1:
Eric Bischoff was inside a cage to start the show. He announced Eugene vs. Triple H would be a steel cage match, where HHH would rid WWE of Eugene. He threatened to suspend indefinitely anyone who interfered. Bischoff then announced that since Edge will be out of action for 4-6 weeks, he is stripped of the title. Christian came out. He said that people will be rioting in the streets if Christian isn’t presented with the IC Title. Chris Jericho intervened and suggested he wrestle Christian for the title. Bischoff made the match for Unforgiven.
Jericho suggested that they had wrestled so many times this match is unimportant, further diminishing the significance of the IC title. Jericho suggested the fans select a stipulation for the match. Bischoff suggested a
cage match. Christian didn’t like this, and suggested a “no count out match” After initial silence, the fans started to make noise. Christian insisted they were yelling “booyah.” Jericho asked for a ladder match, and Bischoff made a ladder match between the two for the title at Unforgiven. Jericho then jumped Christian in an act of wanton cowardice.
Chris Benoit, William Regal, Rhyno and Tajiri beat Ric Flair, Batista and La Resistance. Benoit and Flair traded hard chops to start. Flair did another Flair flop. All eight wrestlers ended up brawling and they went to a break.
When they came back, Regal was pounding Flair with European uppercuts. He tagged Rhyno, who took over with some clotheslines. He even added a strut and “whoo” which was amusing. Flair made a blind tag to Batista, who gained control with a spine buster. Fans chanted “USA,” and Lawler pointed out that there was only one American on the “American” team and three on the “foreign” team. The heels worked over Rhyno, tagging back and forth. Rhyno eventually made the hot tag to Benoit, and the crowd reacted really well to his comeback. He went nuts with German suplexes on the bad guy team. Rhyno added a gore and Tajiri a kick. Benoit then hit the head butt off the top on Rob Conway and applied the sharpshooter for the submission.
Orton was interviewed backstage, receiving yet another weak reaction. Orton said his match with Kane was made so he would be weakened for HHH. He tried to be funny like Rock, raised his eyebrow like Rock, and
got no laughs. This came off so badly, as this face turn is so forced. Really, Orton’s face turn right now has more in common than Rock’s first run as a face than his second. Orton said RKO will beat out HHH.
Trish baited Lita backstage, infuriating Lita. Nidia told
off Trish in Spanish and threw a drink on her. This came off forced as well. They are billing Nidia from Puerto Rico, but why would you tell off someone in a language they don’t understand? This led to a match where Trish
defeated Nidia. Trish started to pull off Nidia’s top, and as Nidia went to fix it she got a Chick kick to the head. I think they are setting her up for a match with my man, the master of Thug Jitsu.
Triple H defeated Eugene in a cage match. Eugene got a nice reaction, and so did HHH initially. Eugene cowered from HHH, shivering, crying and begging for mercy. Now that’s what I call a face. Eugene gained his nerve, firing shots at HHH. The announcers sold that Eugene needed to get out of there because he was going to get killed.
Eugene’s advantage lasted for only a short time, and he was basically pummeled for the rest of the match. Eugene was busted open, and repeatedly hammered with punches and thrown into the cage. HHH eventually hit the pedigree, as Ross happily celebrated that the match was over. HHH teased leaving, but came back and jumped off the ropes onto Eugene’s shoulder. He left the cage to win the match, but then came back to slam the cage door on Eugene’s shoulder. They
sold that it was severely separated. This was a boring match, with an obvious conclusion and only the most basic moves. This made HHH look like a really nasty character, but it is hard to take seriously an injury angle
after the close attention they paid to the last one.
Backstage, Coach tried to interview Edge. Edge said he would rather lose his title injured in the ring than the way he did. Elsewhere, Joyful Kane reminded Lita what he did to Shawn Michaels. It’s all good. HBK doesn’t seem to care, so why should we? Kane ordered Lita to come to the ring and watch his match with Randy Orton. Kane is a jovial fellow, but not terribly bright. Tyson Tomko defeated Chris Jericho after Christian interfered. Christian attacked Jericho with a ladder
after the match. He put Jericho under it and climbed to the top.
