its pretty simple once you get the hang of it. First start with a background colour of #606060. Then create your shape. Ill try and help you with the RVD one you mentioned. Basically he has a stip of barbed wire at the top and bottom with two coming out from the far corners. (look for images of the wire on google img search). Merge then together (click the top layer of the wire and repeatedly press ctl+e until you have the shape.) Next draw a rectangular selection on the lefy edge and right click it. The press feather. set it to around 15-20 and press OK. the press delte until you get the desired effect. Then whack some imgs in the centre and your done. Try with basic shapes then get more advance by merging rounded corners and fading effects.

Ok i dunno why but i just tried doing the background colour 606060 and it comes out much darker than the one in the rvd banner and in your banner

it may depend on your resolution or if you have the colour settings wrong try adjusting your screen settings first but thats definatly the colour used

You right click on your Desktop got to Properties then Settings then change the colour to True Colour (32 bit)

Well, why you get black we all get get grey so just design in your grey colour but when you save and finish switch to the 'black' (our grey) .....it's probably just your monitor though. I would only do this for battle matches otherwise you wont see your own sig properly.

also make sure the colours are set to web colours and not the crappy blocky ones
